Starting out as a young punk rocker, Johnny Depp first broke through onscreen with the TV
series 21, Jump Street. Yet Silver Screen success was still years away, and it
took the combined efforts of mavericks John Waters and Tim Burton to make Depp
a real star. Thoroughly unpretentious, Depp is far more daring in his choice of
roles than he's ever given credit for.
